Grammy winners/progressive rock legends Dream Theater have announced their inaugural Dreamsonic progressive rock festival. The 2023 North American edition will take place throughout June and July 2023, with the first date taking place on June 16.

The tour is a three-headed prog rock chimera, with the aforementioned Dream Theater taking the headlining slot. The band is currently touring behind their 2021 effort A View From The Top of the World. Rounding out the two other heads are Devin Townsend, the Canadian progressive metal legend who is currently supporting his latest album Lightwork, and Animals As Leaders, known for their cutting-edge instrumental progressive/djent tapestries, who are currently supporting their latest effort Parrhesia.

The bands are no strangers to each other: Townsend previously supported Dream Theater in 2022 for the band’s Top of the World European trek. Animals As Leaders previously toured with Townsend as well under his Devin Townsend Project moniker during the Abstract Reality 2014 tour.

Dream Theater guitarist John Petrucci said of the festival: “We are all so incredibly excited to present Dream Theater’s very own prog-metal music festival, Dreamsonic 2023! The lineup for our inaugural run this summer features Dream Theater, Devin Townsend, and Animals As Leaders and is going to be absolutely epic!”
