Welcome to the World of Coffin Joe! Courtesy of Fantasia 2020!

Playing at Fantasia Digital Film Festival 2020 On Demand till Sept 2. Buy your ticket ($8) to At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul here and The Strange World of Coffin Joe here.

If you haven’t been introduced to Coffin Joe yet, now is your chance! Fantasia's Digital 2020 Festival is showing the first instalment as part of their Retro program and "At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul" (1964) is a zinger.

In order to understand why this character is so iconic, the pairing with "The Strange World of Coffin Joe" should say it all. These are old works, and there's no need to repeat what's been said about either.

As a Brazilian undertaker with no local equal, he's become the cultural icon for this country. He has since appeared in many other spinoff material and appeared in comic books, radio and television! This character fittingly belongs to the legion of horror hosts like Svengoolie, Cryptkeeper, Freddie Kruger and Elvira. The creative genius and actor is José Mojica Marins.

Fans of international cinema will get a kick out of what’s being offered in this particular program–other films include "Day of the Beast," "Sting of Death," and "Laurin" (to name a few)– if you're just as hooked the other installments released are "This Night I'll Possess Your Corpse" (1967) and "Embodiment of Evil" (2008) and this trilogy edition is available to purchase from outlets like Amazon USA or you can buy the whole enchilada–Colecao Ze do Caixao (9 Filmes) - Coffin Joe Collection (9 Remastered Movies) –which features everything he's appeared in!
